Profile submitted by: John Vu and Catharina Yih

Brief description of role or responsibilities

Jason is currently the Clinical & Systems Transformation (CST) Pharmacy Project Manager for Vancouver Coastal Health Acute and Community, which includes Vancouver General Hospital, UBC Hospital & sites and the GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre.

Describe how the individual or team made a positive contribution to patient care or their pharmacy department:

In the past year, I have had the pleasure of working closely with Jason and despite his busy schedule, he has always made me felt like a priority, always available to answer my questions and concerns. He is extremely knowledgeable, organized, goal-oriented and reliable.

I also admire his unparalleled work ethic, his ability to consistently proactively identify issues and ability to offer pragmatic and creative solutions at all times. He has been a great leader to me and with his guidance, I have gained a greater appreciation for how pharmacy informatics integrates into our clinical and distribution processes and the overall impact it has on the end user and patient care.

Thank you Jason, you are such an inspiration to me and those around you and I look forward to continuing working with you!

Jason has been wearing so many hats during the CST Implementation, from hooking up computers and dual monitors to facilitating policy decisions. Without Jason’s hard work, dedication, and exceptionally long hours, it is unlikely that we would have been able to go-live with CST.

There were so many things that he did behind the scenes that most people take for granted, but he does it all tirelessly – even during his vacation days!

Jason’s well-rounded understanding of all facets of CST implementation including: patient safety/patient care, hospital policies, pharmacy policies, inventory, and CST functionality made him an invaluable asset to everyone that he interacted with. His patient-centred and big-picture mentality was very much appreciated by the pharmacy CPIS team, and his leadership of the team was invaluable in helping to keep us on track and navigate the our new roles efficiently.

Thank you Jason for your tireless dedication to pharmacy and patient care!
