Clinical Supervisor

Clinical Pharmacy Specialist – ED

Profile submitted by: Amanda Barton

Brief description of role or responsibilities

Kendra is currently the Clinical Supervisor at Children’s and Women’s Health Centre of BC, as well as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.

She also actively contributes to the education of students and residents that rotate through the site.

Describe how the individual or team made a positive contribution to patient care or their pharmacy department:

Kendra is an amazing pharmacist who goes above and beyond in the care she provides to her patients. Seeing her practice in the emergency department is truly inspiring. She has integrated the role of the pharmacist into the emergency medicine team to the point where she practices to her fullest scope and can have as much positive impact on patients as possible. When she isn’t saving lives in the emergency department you can also find her checking in on staff, precepting and teaching students, or in committee meetings helping to enhance medication safety.

Kendra fosters such a safe learning environment and is extremely approachable. It comes as no surprise that she was recently awarded a Certificate of Recognition for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace. She is always willing to lend a helping hand or talk through a complex situation. Kendra played an integral role in my year 2 residency program and as a preceptor, she helped me further develop both my clinical and precepting skills. The feedback she provided me was specific and detailed which so easily allowed me to take that feedback and integrate it into my practice. I am so grateful to have Kendra as a mentor. She is an integral part of the BCCH pharmacy family and is very deserving of recognition for all that she does.

Thank you Kendra!
