Brief description of role or responsibilities​
The Ksyen Regional Pharmacy Sterile Compounding Team (Assistants and Technicians) in Terrace, BC have taken on the workload of mixing chemotherapy and immunotherapy medications for cancer care patients all across the Northwest Region of Northern Health due to long-term closures of mixing facilities in Prince Rupert and Smithers. They supply all mixed medications for Haida Gwaii, Prince Rupert, Terrace, and Smithers and oral chemotherapy to Kitimat patients.
Describe how the individual or team made a positive contribution to patient care or their pharmacy department:
The team’s workload has doubled (and tripled in certain weeks) and have completed this week after week with little to no help. They have stepped up when no one else has to ensure patients don’t go without life saving treatment! They are pharmacy superheroes!!
