Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator, MHSU

Brief description of role or responsibilities
Jacky serves as the Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator for Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) Services at VGH/UBCH. In this role, he provides direct patient care across various inpatient MHSU units, supports psychiatry services from a clinical pharmacy perspective, and coordinates the MHSU pharmacy team at the site.
Describe how the individual or team made a positive contribution to patient care or their pharmacy department:
During my Year 2 residency, Jacky truly demonstrated what it means to be a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in psychiatry. His honesty in showing me not only the rewarding aspects, but also the complex and challenging realities that come with being a CPS, pushed me to grow further both professionally and personally. He consistently challenged me to advance my clinical practice while grounding my work in compassion, empathy, and patient-centred care. Through his mentorship, I developed the confidence needed to successfully complete my residency and transition into my current role as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Psychiatry at Burnaby Hospital. Even now, he continues to provide guidance and encouragement. I feel incredibly fortunate to have him as a mentor, and anyone who has the opportunity to work with him will quickly be welcomed by his bright smile (evidenced by his photo) and genuine commitment to helping others grow!
