Brief description of role or responsibilities
Elaine is the CPS in Cardiology and clinical trials support pharmacist at Burnaby General Hospital.
Over the past few years, she has precepted numerous students and residents, presented at hospital Grand Rounds, lectured for the UBC Critical Care elective, conducted Healthy Heart seminars for patient education, and participated in countless research projects that have resulted in hospital-wide practice changes.
Describe how the individual or team made a positive contribution to patient care or their pharmacy department:
Elaine was my preceptor for my cardiology rotation during residency. As a preceptor and a co-worker, Elaine always promotes a safe space to ask questions and consistently provides thought-provoking answers. She not only taught me how to be a better pharmacist, but also a more resilient person.
It is inspiring to witness Elaine’s attitude in the face of adversity and her courage in taking new challenges as a patient advocate and a leader in the pharmacy field.
