Profile submitted by: Shelby McGraw & Katie Bellefeuille

Brief description of role or responsibilities

Ben is a clinical pharmacist at the University Hospital of Northern BC (UHNBC) with a current practice area in surgery. Notably Ben takes on a significant preceptor role, mentoring both pharmacy students and pharmacy residents. In addition, Ben is keen on providing further education to pharmacy staff, and often hosts what we have nicknamed “Ben Talks”, keeping his peers informed in changes in practice, and providing insight on various disease states.

Describe how the individual or team made a positive contribution to patient care or their pharmacy department:

Ben has shown himself to be a fantastic mentor through his time at UHNBC. He has enthusiastically precepted multiple pharmacy students and residents, providing them with a strong clinical foundation to take with them in their future practice. Ben is passionate about continuing education, and shares this passion and knowledge with both learners and his peers. Ben is known to send applicable journal articles to our clinical pharmacists, and is always keen to discuss the strengths and weakness of a new study. Ben strongly values patient care, and has mentored his preceptees to do the same. We greatly appreciate having Ben on our team, and value his mentorship skills, helping to shape all the learners that come through UHNBC. We cannot wait for the next series of “Ben Talks”.
