Brief description of role or responsibilities
Alicia has been responsible for providing insight and relevant information regarding COVID-19 therapeutics to both pharmacists, as well as physicians, throughout the Northern Health region.
Description of roles to improve patient care or provide pharmacy services during the COVID-19 pandemic
Alicia helped to design and implement order sets for COVID-19, in order to support the care of patients throughout the region. She also provided information and guidance on the use of medications such as tocilizumab, dexamethasone, and remdesivir. She has been an invaluable support in navigating the frequently changing literature and evidence for the treatment of COVID-19, and was able to provide insight on the implications of these changes for our practice.
Description of impact to improve patient care or provide pharmacy services during the COVID-19 pandemic
Alicia helped to ensure that patient’s throughout the Northern Health region were receiving appropriate and evidence based care during COVID-19, and provided the pharmacists and pharmacy team with the guidance required to source these medications, and safely provide them.
