Brief description of role or responsibilities
Yonette oversees day-to-day logistics to ensure our pharmacy department runs smoothly to provide patient care. Her exemplary organization skills and attention to detail have helped her lead many project implementations during her time at SPH, since (AUD, RFID, Anesthesia Trays, Omnicell and a lot more.
Describe how the individual or team made a positive contribution to patient care or their pharmacy department:
Yonette has shared her strong leadership skills through her involvement in mentoring staff and students throughout the years. She is a cheerleader for our staff as they work towards completing their goals of becoming pharmacy technicians and provides a welcoming and supportive environment for students completing their practicum at our site. She actively oversees the experiential component of Pharmacy Technician students, making sure to provide them with a wide range of experiences.
When faced with difficult conversations, Yonette takes the time to listen and ensure everyone feels heard. She provides thoughtful and considerate comments without judgement. Yonette encourages staff to collaborate with each other and support each other in the day-to-day duties to run the department. She is an example for all of us on how to take initiative and handle situations professionally.
Yonette has gained the respect of all those who work with her. She is an integral voice amongst our leadership team, always advocating for staff to work to full scope and expand opportunities for pharmacy technicians.
She was awarded the PTSBC Pharmacy Technician of the Year 2024.
