Brief description of role or responsibilities​

The CIS pharmacy team supports numerous Northern Health pharmacy-related services from a technology point of view.

These systems include but are not limited to: Cerner (PharmNet inpatient, clinical inventory management), ScanRx (internal ordering communication program), WinRx (outpatient pharmacy orders and oncology medication billing), Pyxis (medication dispensing cabinets), automated medication packagers and bartender (label making software).

Whether working independently or as part of a team these members help to ensure our pharmacy services continue to run smoothly alongside all the other IT staff who support them.

Describe how the individual or team made a positive contribution to patient care or their pharmacy department:

There are numerous clinical information systems that allow Northern Health (NH) employees to provide pharmacy-related services to our patients. The CIS pharmacy team is an integral piece of NH as they work tirelessly behind the scenes to support our systems and ensure our pharmacy services are seamlessly maintained.

Personally, I have leaned on this team quite a few times since starting with NH a few years ago. They have helped to troubleshoot technological problems that have occurred; always quick to respond and eager to help. In those instances, their timely and efficient problem solving has allowed me to continue offering pharmacy services to patients with little delay.

This team alongside all the other IT staff do incredible work supporting our NH pharmacy services!
