Brief description of role or responsibilities
Dr. Greg Mah is a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in critical care, practicing in the ICU at Vancouver General Hospital.
Describe how the individual or team made a positive contribution to patient care or their pharmacy department:
Greg is highly regarded and respected, not only within the pharmacy department but across the entire hospital. I had the privilege of completing my post-grad PharmD critical care rotation with him recently, and I am forever grateful for his mentorship and kindness.
Of course, Greg’s wealth of knowledge is exceptional. There wasn’t a single question I asked that he didn’t have an answer for. In fact, he’s always gone above and beyond to teach me even more. However, what truly makes Greg shine as both a clinician and a preceptor is his approachable nature. From day one, he made me feel welcomed and valued, which greatly enhanced my learning experience.
Additionally, Greg has an incredible ability to balance trust and support in his teaching. He encourages learners to practice independently while demonstrating impeccable timing in stepping in when a situation exceeds their skill level or expected scope. His ability to assess, guide, and intervene when necessary is remarkable.
Furthermore, I truly appreciated Greg’s thoroughness and attention to detail in evaluating learners. His feedback on my assessments, teaching sessions, and end-of-block presentation was thoughtful, constructive, and invaluable. I hope that one day I can provide the same level of support to learners training with me, all while maintaining a high standard of clinical excellence (just like Greg).
Thank you, Greg!
