Brief description of role or responsibilities​

Karen Dahri is a clinical pharmacy and research specialist in Internal Medicine in Vancouver General Hospital. She is also an Associate Professor (Partner), Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at UBC and currently serving as the Residency Coordinator of the Y1 Pharmacy Residency Program.

Describe how the individual or team made a positive contribution to patient care or their pharmacy department:

I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn from Karen during my Year 2 Pharmacy Residency. She has played an essential role in my development, offering invaluable guidance on research projects, clinical questions, and career decisions. Karen’s approachability makes it easy to seek advice—she greets everyone with an infectious smile and contagious laughter.

What truly amazes me is her ability to juggle competing priorities and wear so many different pharmacy hats. Despite her demanding schedule, Karen consistently goes above and beyond, providing thoughtful, selfless feedback on research ideas, always offering her time and expertise to support others. This is a true testament to her dedication to advancing the profession and ensuring that those around her have the tools they need to succeed.

Karen is also passionate about driving meaningful change within the pharmacy field, continuously seeking ways to improve systems and practices. I’m in awe of how she manages to balance all her responsibilities while maintaining her enthusiasm and commitment to making a difference.
