Brief description of role or responsibilities
All three technicians rotate into the oncology clinic one at a time to do the following duties:
- Enter chemotherapy orders and complete charts
- Ensure supply of chemotherapy medications are available for patients
- Intake patients that come to the clinic to pick up oral medications
- Be involved with organizing logistics to ensure patients receives medication if it requires courier, delivery, or pickup from an external pharmacy
- Assist pharmacists
Describe how the individual or team made a positive contribution to patient care or their pharmacy department:
Mansura, Monica, and Nina deserve kudos for their hard work and dedication to ensure oncology patients are able to receive correct medications in a timely manner. They always have a smile and a positive attitude when helping patients in the clinic. They are great at multitasking, as the clinic nurses, unit clerk, and pharmacist often ask them to perform tasks at the same time.
When there is a problem identified that is related to a pharmacy process or procedure, they will proactively come up with suggestions to help resolve the problem. They work closely with the oncology clinical pharmacists as a team to improve processes and procedures within the oncology clinic.
