General Information
Posters will be judged under the category “Pharmacy Practice” encompassing clinical research, pharmaceutics/basic research, case reports, pharmacy practice, administration, pharmacoeconomics and drug use evaluations.
Accepted posters will be presented at the CSHP-BC Annual General Meeting.
Submission process (2 categories)
New Researcher Pharmacy Practice Award
- Less than or equal to 2 years from graduating from entry to practice pharmacy program
- AWARD: $250 issued to the submitting author (if it’s a student, confirm with the lead author) and token of award for each author with active CSHP membership
Veteran Researcher Pharmacy Practice Award
- More than 2 years from graduating from entry to practice pharmacy program
- AWARD: $250 issued to the submitting author and a token of award
E-mail the abstract to awards@cshp-bc.com as a file attachment in a format compatible with MS Word formatted for PC.
Subject line of email should state: “Abstract submission for CSHP BC-Branch AGM [insert category].”
The body of the email should also include the submitting author’s name, mailing address and day-time telephone number.
Deadline for submissions is August 31st.
Acceptance for poster display is based on scientific merit, originality, level of interest, significance to CSHP members and compliance with the criteria instructions. Successful candidates will be notified at the beginning of September.
Further information for set-up, poster viewing and judging time will be provided then.
Style Rules
TITLE should be brief and clearly indicate the nature of the presentation. Avoid abbreviations in the title. List the author(s) (submitting author first), degrees, institutional affiliation(s), city and province. Include email of submitting author. Omit job titles and appointments.
ORGANIZE THE BODY OF THE ABSTRACT according to the type of submission:
Clinical Research and Pharmacoeconomic/Drug Use Evaluations:
a) rationale; d) results including statistical or sensitivity analysis;
b) objectives; e) conclusion
c) design and methods
Pharmaceutics/Basic Research:
a) rationale; d) results;
b) objectives; e) conclusions and implications for practice
c) methods;
Case Reports:
a) rationale (why is this case of interest?);
b) identification and description of case and problem;
c) analysis of problem;
d) importance of case to pharmacists
Pharmacy Practice and Administration:
a) rationale (may include a brief statement of what the report is intended to illustrate, or the need which led to the development of this project);
b) description of the concept, service, role, or situation;
c) steps taken to identify and resolve problem, to implement change, or to develop and implement the new program;
d) end result and evaluation;
e) importance and usefulness to current and/or future practice.
Eligibility and Awards
The poster presenter must be an active CSHP BC Branch member.
The presenter of the poster judged to be most worthy of the “Pharmacy Practice Award” by the Poster Evaluation Committee will receive a cash award and a token of award recognizing all active CSHP member authors’ names.
Material previously presented at a local pharmacy event (i.e. Year 1 Residency Projects) is not eligible for submission.
Year 2 Resident Projects are eligible if they have not already received the CSHP National Year 2 Residency Award.
Posters presented at national CSHP or non-CSHP events are allowed; however, please indicate on the abstract and beside the poster display, the name and date of the event. Authors of accepted abstracts will not be provided with travel funds to attend the conference and are expected to pay the registration fee.
Criteria for Abstract Preparations Checklist:
__ Universal or Arial 12 font (recommended)
__ Title in capital letters; avoid indentation or use of abbreviations
__ Maximum 300 words
__ First line of each paragraph should be indented three spaces
__ Presenting author(s)’ name(s) underlined
__ Submitting author listed first and must be an active CSHP member
__ Use standard abbreviations. Special or unusual abbreviations should be initially written in full, followed by the abbreviation in parentheses
__ Use numerals to indicate numbers, except at the beginning of a sentence
__ Use only non-proprietary (generic) names of drugs, material, devices, equipment, etc.
